March is National Kidney Month and the popular Las Vegas Bridge World (Flamingo and Lindell)  is honoring the occasion on Thursday, March 24th with lunch provided at 11:45 with the game to follow.   It is called “Gift of Life Celebration” and we have two very special honorees:   BRUCE RUBIN celebrates the 20th anniversary of his kidney and pancreas transplant and HAROLD LILIE celebrates the three month anniversary of his kidney transplant.  Bobby and I hope many of our localites will be joining us!

I guess this disproves the negative aspects of bridge which so many bitch about!

It is usually the losers that do all the bitching. But, seriously, this is really a time for celebration. I've known Bruce and Harold for a long time and they are both so deserving of this tribute.

it was a nice tribute and a beautiful show of gratitude by both Bruce and Harold!

Yes, CP, it was a lovely afternoon indeed with touching speeches by the honorees. Bruce related the emotionally wrought story of his survival because of an eighteen year old accident victim’s organ donation some twenty years ago. Harold followed with a few words of appreciation for a more recent ordeal and everyone was delighted to see his smiling face after not only his recent kidney transplant but earlier heart surgery as well.

Despite so many of our regulars just returning after ten days at the Reno National, we did have a good turnout (fifteen tables). The LVBW hosted a beautiful lunch and I noted several players going back for seconds and thirds. I guess some think you perform better on a full stomach.

Thanks to The Las Vegas Bridge World for such a lovely gesture!
