WHO COULD ASK FOR MORE????

The  Glitter Gulch Las Vegas Sectional is being held from the 26th to the 30th of March at the glamorous Bally’s (connected by a fascinating hallway to the famed Paris Hotel) with tons of shops and restaurants – not that Bally’s would not have sufficed in itself.  The rooms are enormous with all the amenities (and a spot for my computer)!   The games began on Monday at 9:00 a.m. 1:15 p.m. and will continue to 7:00 (last ditch), ending Friday at 10 a.m. with Stratfied Swiss Teams and  FastPairs.    They are a mixture of Pairs, Knockouts and Swiss events (bracketed and knockout).  Something for everyone!

The gambling tables are plentiful and they feature Bobby’s and my favorite .. Blackjack Switch.   For those who enjoy venturing the twenty-one variety love BJ Switch as it is hard to find in Vegas.   Most of the casinos do not feature them.   Everyone loves winning and moving forward in the tournament but being relegated to relaxing dinners and BJS could be worse.  Today we start another knockout and hopefully this time we will will win more master points than money – but that ain’t bad either.

Sounds like all this and heaven too.

Being retired and living in Vegas too is a dream come true. The people are lovely and we are far from the maddening crowds down at the Strip. Combining controlled gambling and the well-run tournaments are lots of fun.

Valet parking – tons of restaurants – and all the bridge you can ask for. Having it during the week is also nice (especially for bridgers with non bridge playing spouses or companions).

It’s almost noon. Off to the wars!

I think winning more money is better! Since I don’t gamble, guess that can’t happen, so I need to concentrate on the master points. That has not gone so well either, at least so far. Partner and I got a terrible director call yesterday, but we let it go even though we knew the call was incorrect. Several people told us later we should have asked for a committee, but I don’t want to do that and wind up on some director hit list. One of the opponents even apologized to us later for the bad call, which was very nice, I thought. This opponent did not want her partner to even call the director, but he did anyway. A couple of players said a committee would serve as an educational experience for the director. Maybe so, but I don’t imagine the director would look at it that way. I try to avoid directors as much as possible!

Everyone seems to enjoy Bally’s, and we had to play upstairs from the main playing site yesterday afternoon since there was such a big attendance for the afternoon session. Good news for the Vegas sectional.

Hope you and Bobby do well. I have out of town company today and tomorrow, so will not be back until Friday. Fast pairs then. Love fast pairs!

Not setting the world on fire here. In fact lost a KO by one imp. Ugh!

I’ve just gotten my latest ACBL Bulletin, and you and Bobby will be very happy with it.
