THE WBF SEMI-FINALS BEGIN TOMORROW
Here are the results of the 96 board quarter finals from yesterday and winding up today:
IN THE BERMUDA BOWL, ITALY BEAT CHINA; USA 2 BEAT SWEDEN ; NETHERLANDS BEAT ICELAND ; USA 1 BEAT ISRAEL .
IN THE VENICE CUP (WOMEN’S), INDONESIA BEAT USA 2 ; ENGLAND BEAT SWEDEN; NETHERLANDS BEAT USA 1 ; FRANCE BEAT CHINA .
IN THE D’ORSI SENIORS BOWL, FRANCE BEAT GERMANY ; USA1 BEAT DENMARK ; POLAND BEAT AUSTRALIA ; USA 2 BEAT INDONESIA .
I will continue to post the results, following up with the Semi-finals tomorrow and Wednesday and (if we make it to the Finals Thursday and Friday when the Venice Cup and Senior winners are determined) will report on that as well. The premier event (The Bermuda Bowl) will end Saturday before the Closing Banquet and the prize presentation.
Certain victories for the USA were diminished by the upset losses in the Venice Cup by our 2 top womens teams, USA I and USA 2 to Indonesia and the host Netherlands team. I guess one can say the good news is how happy their opponents became after they slayed Goliath, but the really sad news is that the victory presentations will be deprived of knowing how our lady representatives voted in our last Presidential elections. Oh well, some gossip is sometimes laid to rest without being publicly announced.
Bobby’s comment is a tough act to follow but I remember it well. No Bushwacking this year.
